Brave Roots Chiropractic is a Gonstead chiropractic clinic at 375 E Horsetooth Rd Building 2 Suite 101 in Fort Collins, and the office describes itself as a modern sanctuary of healing rather than just a clinic. Dr. Steve Cook, D.C. leads the practice. He has practiced in Fort Collins since 2010, graduated Cum Laude from New York Chiropractic College in 2009, and also holds an undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Conservation from the State University of New York at Morrisville. The clinic says it specializes in restoring maximum function to the joints, nerves, and soft tissues of the body, with results it describes as less pain, improved posture, greater freedom of movement, and the restoration of damaged nerves. Care is built around the Gonstead Technique, which the office says is used by only a few chiropractors in Fort Collins, and which rests on five components: x-rays, palpation, instrumentation, visualization, and case management. Torque Release Technique is offered as well. A first visit runs roughly 45 minutes to an hour and includes a discussion of your health concerns, a skin temperature scan with a Nervo-scope instrument, static and motion palpation, x-rays where appropriate, and then a first specific adjustment, with a second visit scheduled to review findings and set a course of care. Alongside spinal adjusting the office runs several programs. Its peripheral neuropathy program addresses sensory and motor nerve symptoms in the hands, arms, legs, and feet. StemWave is an FDA listed acoustic wave device used for joint, muscle, and nerve pain, and the clinic states it is the only StemWave provider in the area. Rossiter Stretching is assisted stretching that creates myofascial release to free tight connective tissue, which the office says makes for an easier and more complete adjustment. Acupuncture is offered on its own or built into a chiropractic care plan, with sessions of about 30 to 45 minutes. In 2012 Dr. Cook completed the 220 hour coursework at Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic to become a Certified Animal Chiropractor, and he treats dogs in the office and makes barn calls for horses around Fort Collins. Chiropractic care for kids, wellness care, and care during pregnancy round out the menu. Conditions the practice highlights include back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, scoliosis, disc injury, whiplash, work injury, arm and leg pain, carpal tunnel, shoulder pain, TMJ, and vertigo. On billing, the office states that Dr. Steven Cook is an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield, also known as Anthem, and with Cigna. It adds that it can bill automobile insurance for injuries from a motor vehicle collision, routinely bills health savings accounts, and bills most other health insurance policies as an out of network provider. New patients can start with the $99 VIP Pass, which the office says covers the consultation, physical assessment, and any needed radiographs. The clinic notes it sits next to Whole Foods in Midtown Fort Collins.
