Vitalitree is an arborist collective serving Seattle-Tacoma and Vashon Island with tree pruning, tree removal, tree preservation and honest evaluations. The company requires its arborists to maintain certification through the International Society of Arboriculture and pays for courses so they keep advancing their knowledge, and every crew carries at least 2 certified arborists and oftentimes 3 or more. Founder Jean-Luc Bengle is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, the highest level of certification offered by ISA and held by only 2% of all ISA certified arborists. Services cover pruning, removal, preservation, tree planting, tree risk assessment, tree evaluation, stump grinding, birch tree borer treatments, crane removals, tracked lift work and emergency storm work. Vitalitree states it is the only Seattle tree care company to use both a tracked lift and a crane, gives free evaluations and quotes, and plants at least one tree for every tree it cuts down through its Tree for Tree community program. Work is performed under Business License VITALL*902LB.

Tree risk assessment

The assessment and estimate Jean-Luc provided was both thorough and accurate. Arrival time was right on the mark, and he and his right-hand man took our ailing 40 year old Catalpa tree down with admirable skill, efficiency, and timing. They thoughtfully stacked the wood and left our yard unharmed, tidy, and clean.

Tad C. · Seattle, WA

They were on time (early in fact), competitive pricing, excellent and timely communication, and fantastic professional expertise. I trusted that Jean-Luc told me what he would have done if it was his own yard, and really knew what he was talking about.

Jennifer B.

Very courteous, on time for both the estimate and to do the job. Very knowledgeable in explaining what they suggested be done and why. They worked efficiently, cleaned up after themselves as they went along. They really knew what they were doing and did a great job.

FAQs

Do you charge for estimates?
No. Vitalitree provides a free expert assessment and quote. You can call (206) 498-7998 or request a free quote online, and an arborist will evaluate your trees and give you a price before any work is scheduled.
Are your arborists certified?
Yes. Vitalitree requires its arborists to maintain certification through the International Society of Arboriculture, and the company pays for and encourages courses so they keep advancing their knowledge. Every crew has at least 2 certified arborists and oftentimes 3 or more, and founder Jean-Luc Bengle is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist.
Do you handle emergency storm damage?
Yes. Vitalitree does emergency storm tree work and removal, and reschedules its normal jobs to get you help right away. The team has a lot of experience removing fallen trees off houses and other targets, and can advise whether a storm-damaged tree is still viable.
Can you remove a tree in a tight space?
Yes. Vitalitree has its own crane for removing hazardous or close quarters trees with little to no impact, a tall bucket truck, and a tracked lift that goes up 90 feet and reaches 54 feet out to the side. Where there is no equipment access, a skilled climber takes the tree down piece by piece.
What happens to the wood after a removal?
Vitalitree can leave you the chopped wood, or sell high value logs to lower your total bill. Wood that is not used for furniture, bowls or spoons is cut into firewood and given away if you do not want it, wood too rotten to burn is composted, and the branches are chipped into mulch used around the city.
Do you replant the trees you remove?
Yes. Through the Tree for Tree program, Vitalitree plants at least one tree for every tree it cuts down, working with organizations to bring kids outside to plant and learn about the urban canopy. The planting is fully funded by Vitalitree LLC.
Will you pressure me into removing a healthy tree?
No. Vitalitree states it does not use scare tactics to sell work and is happy to tell you your trees are healthy and need no work. It only recommends removal when there are safety concerns or the tree has outgrown its space, and it offers risk-mitigating alternatives such as cabling, bracing, reduction cuts and thinning cuts.
What areas do you serve?
Vitalitree serves Seattle-Tacoma and Vashon Island, with a Seattle location at 9510 14th Ave S and a second location on Vashon Island.
