FAQs
Do you charge for estimates?
No. We provide free estimates with transparent pricing and honest recommendations. Some quotes can be given over the phone or by email, and if the job is complex we are happy to come inspect the property free of charge.
How deep do you grind tree stumps?
Most stump grinding projects are completed 6 to 12 inches below ground level, which is deep enough for new sod, landscaping, irrigation, fencing, and patios. For construction, concrete, or foundation work we can grind deeper depending on your project.
Do you provide emergency tree removal?
Yes. Storm damage, high winds, falling trees, broken limbs, and hazardous trees can happen unexpectedly. If a tree has fallen onto your home, driveway, fence, or business, contact us and we will assess the situation, remove the tree safely, and clean up the debris.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Very Good Stump Grinding & Tree Service is a licensed, insured, and bonded company operating under CCB# 232756, and every project is overseen by an ISA Certified Arborist.
What about underground utility lines?
We schedule all utility locates. If there is a chance underground utilities are near the work area, we call for locates to be done, which is a two-day process. Once the utilities are marked, we can safely begin the job.
What happens to the debris and mulch?
We backfill the hole using the mulch byproduct from grinding, and extra mulch can be hauled away for an added cost. Every project includes removal of logs, limbs, brush, and wood debris, and free wood chip delivery is offered throughout the Portland metro when available.
How quickly will I hear back after requesting a quote?
We respond to all inquiries within 48 hours and set up timely consultations. You can reach us by phone, email, or text.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. Elderly customers, first responders, and military personnel receive a 5% discount, and we offer discounted rates for jobs with large numbers of stumps.
