Northern Colorado Pest and Wildlife Control is a locally-owned and family-run company that serves Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland and the wider Northern Colorado area along the Front Range up to the Wyoming border. Brandon and Kristen Ewals-Strain own and operate the business together. Brandon has been in the pest and wildlife industry since 2004, holds a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University and a master's degree in Entomology from the same school, and serves as CPCA President. Kristen handles customer care and is the owner and handler of Advanced K9 Bed Bug Seekers, the company's sister operation. The team covers both sides of the trade. On the pest side that means spiders, ants, cockroaches, mice and rats, stinging insects, pantry and clothes moths, mosquitoes, flies, fleas and ticks, carpet beetles, clover and spider mites, boxelder and conifer seed bugs, nuisance centipedes and millipedes, and wood destroying pests such as carpenter ants and termites. On the wildlife side it means bats, pest birds, prairie dogs, skunks, raccoons, rabbits, fox squirrels, pocket gophers, voles and snakes. Service options include the One-Time Pest Control Service, Monthly Pest Control Service, Every Other Month Service, Custom Service, Rodent Service, Cockroach Service, Bed Bug Service, Pantry Pest Services, Stinging Insect Service, Seasonal Pest Service, Specialty Pest Service and Wood Destroying Pest Service. The company practices Integrated Pest Management, a broad-based approach in which pesticides are one of many tools alongside exclusion, habitat modification and education, and it does not lock customers into contracts. The insecticides selected have no odor, do not stain, and are labeled for use in schools, nurseries, daycare centers, hospitals, nursing homes, residential homes and commercial businesses. Once dry they are safe for people and pets, and the technician walks the customer through the treatment process. Wildlife work is built around the well-being of the animal, with relocation or one-way doors used wherever state and federal law allows. Services start at $79, with the average service between $100 and $200.

Services

One-time pest control service

One-time pest control service

For customers that have a one-time problem such as spiders, ants, centipedes, millipedes, pillbugs, earwigs or crickets and are not in need of a regular pest control service.

Every other month service

Every other month service

A regular preventative service for residential and some commercial customers. It is the recommended plan for general pests, mice and stingers because the insecticide residual is effective for 60 days, so maintaining the exterior of the home protects it year-round. This service comes with a 365-day warranty on pest issues on the interior of the home.

Monthly pest control service

Monthly pest control service

Regular preventative service most often used by commercial customers for general pest control and rodents when required by law, including restaurants, manufacturing sites and apartments.

Custom service

Custom service

For both commercial and residential customers. Similar to the Every Other Month Service but with four visits per year instead of six, eliminating the winter services. The company recommends service from April to October. The Custom Service comes with a 60-day warranty.

Rodent service

Rodent service

For mice and rats. The goal is to identify where rodents are getting inside the home or business, seal up the entry points, set traps inside to remove the current population, and return in 2 to 3 days to remove the trapped rodents. This service typically comes with a 6-month warranty, dependent upon the ability to inspect and access the entire structure.

Why choose us?

Integrated Pest Management, not just spraying

The company practices Integrated Pest Management, a broad-based approach where pesticides are used as one of many tools rather than the only tool. The focus falls heavily on exclusion, habitat modification and education so the pest problem is actually eliminated.

No customer contracts

One of the things the owners say separates them from competitors is that they do not lock customers into contracts. They do not believe in tying customers down if they are not providing the results those customers deserve.

Products safe for family and pets once dry

The insecticides selected have no odor, do not stain, and are the least invasive on the market that still solve the problem. They are labeled for use in schools, nurseries, daycare centers, hospitals, nursing homes, residential homes and commercial businesses. Once dry they are safe for people and pets, and the technician guides you through the treatment process.

Humane, conservation-minded wildlife control

The team takes an active role in wildlife conservation. Animals are relocated wherever possible, or one-way doors are used to resolve the conflict, in line with Colorado state and federal law. Prevention and education come before trapping, and sometimes the recommendation is to let nature resolve the problem.

Owners with wildlife biology and entomology degrees

Owner Brandon Ewals-Strain has been in the industry since 2004, earned a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University in 2005 and a master's degree in Entomology from CSU in 2017, and serves as CPCA President. Co-owner Kristen Ewals-Strain leads customer care and chairs the Denver chapter of Women in Pest Management.

Warranties on the ongoing service plans

The Every Other Month Service carries a 365-day warranty on pest issues on the interior of your home. The Custom Service carries a 60-day warranty, and the Rodent Service typically carries a 6-month warranty, dependent upon the ability to inspect and access the entire structure.

FAQs

Are your pest and wildlife control products safe for our family and pets?
Yes. Once the products have been allowed to dry they are safe for you, your family and pets. All the products used are registered for use in hospitals, day care facilities, schools and nursing homes. The insecticides selected have no odor, do not stain, and are the least invasive on the market that still solve the pest problem. The technician will advise you on dry times and any additional precautions if deemed necessary.
How much do your pest and wildlife control services cost?
Services range in price depending upon the pest and the difficulty of the job. Services start at $79, with the average service between $100 and $200. If you have questions about your specific situation, call the office and the staff can give you a ballpark range for your particular pest.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. The owners state plainly that they do not lock customers into contracts. Their view is that if they are not providing the results a customer deserves, that customer should not be tied down. Their stated goal is to earn your business every time they provide a service for you.
What pest control plans do you offer?
There is a One-Time Pest Control Service for a single problem such as spiders, ants, centipedes, millipedes, pillbugs, earwigs or crickets. The Monthly Pest Control Service is aimed at commercial customers who are required by law to run regular preventative service. The Every Other Month Service is the recommended residential plan for general pests, mice and stingers because the insecticide residual lasts 60 days, and it carries a 365-day warranty on interior pest issues. The Custom Service runs four visits from April to October instead of six and carries a 60-day warranty. There are also dedicated Rodent, Cockroach, Bed Bug, Pantry Pest, Stinging Insect, Seasonal, Specialty and Wood Destroying Pest services.
Do you treat bed bugs with heat?
No. The company only provides conventional treatments for bed bugs, meaning insecticides, though it can provide recommendations for heat treatment on request. Bed bug work requires a lot of customer cooperation and prep-sheets are supplied that need to be followed. The average bed bug service takes 2 to 3 visits to eliminate the infestation, and the outcome depends greatly on that cooperation.
Are your wildlife control services humane?
Yes. The team goes out of its way to make sure the animals it traps are safely relocated in line with Colorado state law. A few species cannot be relocated, and in those situations one-way doors may be used so the animal does not have to be euthanized. In rare cases where an animal appears sick or injured it is euthanized by a method approved by the state of Colorado. The company believes in a shared balance between humans and wildlife and works to educate customers on minimizing conflict.
What happens during a rodent service?
The goal is to identify where the rodents are getting into the home or business. Once those areas are found the entry points are sealed, traps are set inside to remove the current population, and a return visit is scheduled in 2 to 3 days to remove the trapped rodents. The service typically comes with a 6-month warranty, dependent upon the ability to inspect and access the entire structure.
What cities and areas do you service?
The company works along the Front Range from the Wyoming border south to Denver, servicing the major cities in between, including Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Windsor, Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, Broomfield, Westminster, Arvada, Thornton, Golden, Denver and Aurora. If you live in the Northern Colorado area, the Denver metro area or Boulder County, they can help. Call 970-330-3929 for the north or 303-746-9556 for central.
