FAQs
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Watertown, Massachusetts and serve the Greater Boston area, including Boston, Cambridge, Brookline, Belmont, Newton, Waltham and Lexington.
How much does a new fence cost?
The price depends on the material, height, total linear footage, number of gates, terrain and how easy the fence line is to access. Chain link is usually the most affordable, wood and vinyl fall in the middle, and ornamental aluminum costs more per foot. We give you an exact price in a free written estimate after we measure your property.
What is your estimate process?
We offer free on-site estimates. We measure your property, walk the fence line with you and give you a written quote at no cost. During the visit we also check your town's permit and zoning requirements for your address.
How long does fence installation take?
Most residential fences are installed in one to three days once materials are on site. Larger perimeters, commercial jobs and custom gates can take longer. Material lead times, permits and Dig Safe markings, which need at least 72 hours, add time before installation starts.
Do I need a permit to build a fence?
It depends on the town. Most Greater Boston communities limit fence height through zoning, usually with a lower limit in front yards, and many require a permit for pool fences. Homes in local historic districts may need approval for a fence visible from the street. We check your town's requirements during the estimate.
What is the best fence material for New England winters?
Aluminum and vinyl handle snow, salt and freeze-thaw cycles with the least maintenance. Cedar holds up well when it is sealed, and galvanized or vinyl-coated chain link is very durable. Whatever the material, the most important factor is setting the posts deep enough to resist frost heave.
Can you repair a fence you did not install?
Yes. We repair wood, vinyl, aluminum and chain link fences and gates regardless of who installed them. We assess the damage and tell you whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.
