Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. JP Urban Moving is a licensed, insured, and accredited moving company meeting NYDOT, US DOT, and MC requirements, operating under NY DOT T-38181, US DOT 2096754, and MC 882954. The company carries two million dollars of general liability insurance as well as workers compensation and disability coverage, and holds an A+ BBB rating.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Complete the online estimate form and the team responds within 24 hours. Quotes are not provided over the phone, and for larger jobs of two bedrooms or more with packing a video walk-through is used instead of an in-person visit.
What areas do you serve?
JP Urban Moving serves all five boroughs of New York City, along with New Jersey, Connecticut, and Westchester, plus selected longer routes to destinations including Florida, Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New Hampshire.
Do you charge hourly or a flat rate?
Estimates are hourly based with a two hour minimum charge and billing in 15 minute increments after that. Flat rate pricing is also provided with limited availability.
What is included in the hourly rate?
The hourly rate includes labor, the truck or trucks, blankets to prep and protect furniture, dollies, basic disassembly and reassembly, and parking tickets. Packing materials, COI fees, staircase fees, parking meters, tolls, and tips are not included.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major debit and credit cards are accepted, along with PayPal, Zelle or Chase, and Venmo. A 5 percent cash discount is available on the balance after the deposit.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance for my building?
Yes. A certificate of insurance verifies that the moving company is insured, and JP Urban Moving issues them for buildings that require one at a cost of $45 per location.
How far in advance should I book my move?
Prime moving dates are often booked three to four weeks in advance, so it is worth reaching out early if your date falls at the start or end of a month.
