JOG Moving LLC is a labor-based moving company serving Grand Junction, the Grand Valley and Western Colorado. The company started in the summer of 2013 as a family gig run by two brothers and their father, and it is now managed by owner Jomas Gibson. JOG Moving does not own warehouses, storage facilities or a fleet of trucks, and instead focuses on professional moving labor: loading, unloading, in-home rearranging, in-town moves, one-item moves, safe and piano moving, and out-of-town moves that include runs between Grand Junction and Denver. Work is charged by the hour based on crew size rather than by pounds, rooms, steps or square footage, with a crew of two movers priced at $79 per hour for the pair. Basic moving equipment such as dollies, straps and tools is supplied by the company. JOG Moving does not offer packing services and does not maintain its own moving truck, though it can lease a truck and trailer for a move. The company states that it offers coverage for damaged items or property up to $1,000 per move. Phones are answered Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and most Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Why choose us?

Hourly rates priced per crew

Moves are charged by the hour based on crew size, not by pounds, rooms, steps or square footage. A crew of two movers runs $79 per hour, and that rate covers both movers together rather than each one.

Small moving jobs welcome

The company puts a specific emphasis on smaller-scale work, including one-item moves such as a mattress, sofa or armoire, plus appliance swaps and small storage move-outs that larger outfits often pass on.

In-home rearranging

Movers handle on-property jobs such as remodel prep, moving furniture between rooms, garage staging for a yard sale and organizing a crowded storage unit. The site notes crews take on these jobs two to three times a week.

Experienced loading crews

Loading is described as the company's most technical service. Each loading crew includes at least one experienced loader who guides the process and secures furniture and boxes for the trip ahead.

Equipment supplied by the movers

Clients do not need to source dollies, straps or tools. JOG Moving supplies the equipment its crews need for the job, and furniture assembly help on items such as beds and hutches carries no special charge.

No gas or travel charge inside city limits

For job sites inside Grand Junction city limits and most immediately surrounding neighborhoods, there is no extra charge for gas or travel time. Small travel fees do apply to outlying towns such as Fruita or Palisade.

FAQs

How much do movers cost?
JOG Moving charges by the hour based on crew size rather than by weight, rooms, steps or square footage. The published rates are $47 to $52 per hour for one mover depending on personnel, $79 per hour for two movers, $99 per hour for three and $125 per hour for four. Each rate covers the crew as a whole, not each mover. All jobs carry a 1-hour minimum, and past the first hour labor is rounded to the nearest quarter hour.
Which jobs require a 2-hour minimum?
The company applies a 2-hour minimum to same-day moves, which also carry an added $15 charge, to jobs outside the valley, to piano or safe moves no matter where they take place, and to Saturday moves.
Do you move safes and pianos?
Yes, within limits. Gun safes are serviceable when the weight is under roughly 700 to 850 lb, and pianos include spinet, upright and console models. Grand and baby grand pianos are referred to another company. Piano moves involving one or more flights of stairs are not serviceable, and neither are safe moves involving stairs when the safe is heavier than roughly 300 to 350 lb, because of liability and insurance limitations. A $50 handling fee applies when the item is moved as part of a bigger job.
Do you offer packing services?
No. JOG Moving comes in to move furniture and boxes that are already packed and ready to go, and the site states the company has no intention of offering packing. Packing supplies and materials for the move are the client's responsibility.
Is JOG Moving insured?
The company states it offers coverage for damaged items or property up to $1,000 per move. Truck rentals handled by its movers come with insurance that includes limited coverage on truck contents. For items valued extremely high, the company may refer you to a larger company with broader coverage.
Can you help with a move between Grand Junction and Denver?
Yes. Moves between the Western Slope and the Front Range are handled as out-of-town moves, and the company has resources in the Denver area. Calling well in advance is recommended because all-day drivers are limited. Out-of-town moves carry a 2-hour minimum, round-trip travel time charges and a flat fuel and vehicle fee, and a deposit of roughly one third to one half of the projected cost is generally requested.
Can I get same-day moving help?
Same-day service has been provided many times for clients in a time crunch, but the company states it is not guaranteed and depends on mover and time availability. A same-day charge applies along with a 2-hour minimum.
What payment methods do you accept?
JOG Moving accepts cash, check made out to JOG Moving, Venmo, PayPal, which may carry an additional charge, and Cash App. The company does not accept Zelle and does not have a system set up for debit or credit cards. Apart from out-of-town moves, no deposit is required and payment is settled once the job is complete.
