Harold's Lock and Key Service is a family-owned locksmith shop at 9966 S. Commercial Ave on Chicago's South Side, serving the neighborhood since 1987. The shop handles residential, automotive, and commercial locksmith work: house and car lockouts, key cutting while you wait, transponder car keys, rekeying, and lock repair. Walk-ins are welcome at the counter, and a fully equipped van covers mobile service across the South Side by appointment. When you call, the family picks up the phone, in English or Spanish, and the price is quoted before the work starts with no surprise fees and no upsells.

What should I do if I am locked out?
Call the shop. Harold's opens houses, apartments, offices, and cars, and uses non-destructive entry when possible so your door is not damaged. Emergency service is available for lockouts.
Do you cut and program car keys?
Yes. Harold's cuts and programs transponder keys for most makes and models, replaces key fobs, duplicates car keys, and handles ignition repair, with no dealer markup.
Can you come to me, or do I need to visit the shop?
Either works. Walk-ins are welcome at the shop on Commercial Ave, and mobile service is available by appointment across the South Side in a fully equipped van.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Hablamos espanol. About half of Harold's customers speak Spanish, and so does the shop, so you can be helped in either language.
How do I know what it will cost?
Harold's tells you the price before the work starts. There are no surprise fees and no upsells, so what is quoted is what you pay.
Can you rekey the locks at a place I just moved into?
Yes. Rekeying keeps your existing hardware and stops the old keys from working. Harold's can rekey multiple locks at once and set up master key systems.
What are your hours?
The shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM. It is closed on Sunday.
