Green Girl Recycling is a Longmont recycling and hauling company that was started in 1998 by Bridget Johnson to bring recycling service to mountain communities around Boulder County. The company now provides local recycling services for Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties, working with residential homes, commercial businesses, small offices and restaurants. Services include custom single-stream recycling programs, secure paper shredding, electronics recycling and pickup of hard-to-recycle items such as mattresses, small appliances, scrap metal, wood pallets and styrofoam. Residential customers get front-door pickup, and the team will even pull recycling from a garage or shed on a predetermined schedule. Recycling starts at $35 per pickup, with rates varying by location, volume and frequency, and items can also be dropped off at the warehouse at 1801 Boston Ave in Longmont.

Recycling in Boulder County since 1998

Green Girl Recycling was started in 1998 by Bridget Johnson and has grown from mountain routes around Boulder County into service across Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties.

Commercial and residential programs

The team builds custom recycling programs for businesses of any size, commercial buildings, law firms, government offices, school campuses and restaurants, plus front-door pickup for homes.

Secure paper shredding

Sensitive paper waste is collected in provided containers and 100% of the paper is securely shredded and recycled at the Longmont warehouse, with detailed Certificates of Destruction available.

Electronics recycling with data wiping

High grade electronics are wiped and full Certification of Destruction can be provided, and working laptops and towers are repurposed rather than scrapped.

Hard-to-recycle items accepted

Mattresses and box springs, small appliances, bicycle inner tubes, ink cartridges, rigid plastics, styrofoam, scrap metal and wood pallets are all on the accepted items list, and Green Girl asks customers to call for anything not shown.

Recycling reports every year

Drivers document pickup location, contents and pounds recycled, and every January customers receive an end of year report showing how much they diverted from the landfill.

FAQs

What areas does Green Girl Recycling serve?
Green Girl Recycling provides local recycling services for Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties from its Longmont warehouse. Residential pickup covers the unincorporated Boulder County area and mountain residents to the west.
How much does recycling pickup cost?
Recycling starts at $35 per pickup, and rates vary depending on location, volume of recycling and frequency of pickup. Commercial pickups average between $35 and $55 for small to medium sized businesses, and residential plans run $30 monthly, $40 every other week, or $48.50 weekly in most areas.
Do you offer secure document shredding?
Yes. Green Girl Recycling provides containers for sensitive paper waste, picks it up on schedule, and shreds and recycles 100% of the paper at its Longmont warehouse. Shredding is $0.35 per pound, with a discounted $0.30 per pound rate on commercial loads over 1,000 pounds when all clips, binders, rubber bands and envelopes are removed.
What electronics can you recycle?
Anything you can unplug or that is powered by a battery or plug can be recycled, working or not. High grade items such as laptops, towers, servers, cell phones and cables are free if you bring them in, medium grade items are weighed at $0.40 per pound, and televisions are priced by screen inch.
Can I drop items off instead of scheduling a pickup?
Yes. The drop off location is 1801 Boston Ave in Longmont, on the southwest corner of Boston and Sunset behind the Shell gas station. Look for the brown building with large white doors and drive up through the metal gate.
Do you take mattresses?
Yes. Mattresses and box springs are recycled at $45 each and must be bagged, with non-bagged mattresses delivered to the warehouse costing $65 each. Muddy, wet or soggy mattresses are not accepted.
How do residential pickups work?
The crew comes to your front door, garage or shed rather than the end of a long driveway. You separate recyclables into containers that can be lifted easily at no more than 40 pounds each, and Green Girl sends a calendar and adjusts your schedule around vacations.
Do you help businesses set up a recycling program?
Yes. Green Girl Recycling designs custom programs with single-stream recycling, secure shredding, compost, electronics and hard-to-recycle pickups, and offers inside or outside collection points. Educational support for staff is always free and can be scheduled during office hours.
