FAQs
Is Mark the Mover licensed and insured?
Yes. Mark the Mover is approved and licensed by the Georgia Department of Public Safety under certificate number 7576 and operates under DOT# 0758674. The company states it adheres to all state laws and customary moving procedures, and it maintains an insurance policy with coverage of $3,000,000 aggregate liability and $1,000,000 aggregate cargo.
How do I get an estimate for my move?
Call (404) 351-0018 or email customerservice@markthemover.com to speak with a representative. For many people a phone interview is adequate and the estimate is emailed or faxed. For the best possible estimate the company needs an inventory of your household, which can be emailed or completed with the online cube sheet, and in many cases Mark the Mover can come out and do the inventory for you.
How does Mark the Mover charge for moving?
Local moves are generally charged on an hourly basis, and pricing conforms with the rates mandated by the Georgia Department of Public Safety. Pricing for interstate moves is based on the weight and distance. Mark the Mover does not add fuel surcharges, and piano moving does not cost anything beyond the standard hourly rate.
What payment methods do you accept?
For local moves Mark the Mover accepts all major forms of payment including cash, check, credit card and other certified funds. For long distance moves, cash or certified funds are the only acceptable forms of payment.
Do you handle interstate and long distance moves?
Yes. Mark the Mover is certified for long distance moving and provides full service relocations in the 48 contiguous United States, with most interstate moves in the southeast. The company is not a van line and does not broker moves to other companies, so the truck and crew are exclusively moving your goods and customers get a guaranteed 24 hour delivery window.
Do you offer storage?
Yes. Mark the Mover has two 20,000 square foot secure, humidity controlled warehouses with no public access, one in Midtown Atlanta near the north end of the connector and one adjacent to I-20 near Charlie Brown Airport. Full service, inventory controlled storage is available from a few days to several months, and the company also offers storage-in-transit, which leaves your goods on a truck in its secure yard and eliminates the cost of an inventory and double-handling.
Are your movers permanent employees?
Yes. Mark the Mover never uses day labor or temporary help. All moving crew members are hired after a full background check and are subject upon employment to both random and scheduled drug testing, and many of the company's movers have been in the business for more than 10 years.
What happens if something is damaged during my move?
Every move carries valuation coverage. Basic Coverage comes at no cost to the customer and limits liability to 60 cents per pound per article, and two Full Value Protection options are available at an additional government regulated cost. A written claim form must be received by the claims department within 90 days from the date of the move, and Mark the Mover will repair the item, replace it with a similar or like item, or offer a cash settlement.
