FAQs

What conditions does Ft. Lauderdale Family Chiropractic treat?
The office treats back pain, neck pain, and headaches, along with herniated discs in the cervical and lumbar spine, numbness and tingling in the arms or legs, whiplash and other auto accident injuries, workplace injuries, and sports and recreation injuries. Dr. Cohen is well versed in spine and neck injuries related to golfing, boating, and fishing.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. The office participates in most insurance programs and accepts most health insurance plans, including Medicare. It also accepts auto accident, workers compensation, and personal injury cases that have resulted in back pain, neck pain, headaches, or other related pain conditions. Because coverage for chiropractic care varies widely, call the office to confirm your plan. Staff will verify your benefits and explain them to you at no charge.
What if I do not have chiropractic insurance coverage?
The office says its goal is to allow everyone to experience the benefits of chiropractic care. For patients with little or no chiropractic coverage, the office will work with you to arrange a flexible payment program that fits your budget, and many patients choose to pay directly for their visits.
What is spinal decompression and am I a candidate?
Nonsurgical spinal decompression uses FDA-approved equipment to apply gentle distraction forces to the spine, creating negative intra-discal pressure that helps a bulging disc retract and relieves pressure on the nerve root. It is used for herniated discs in the neck and lower back and for numbness or tingling in the arms or legs. Treatment runs over a series of visits lasting four to six weeks. Dr. Cohen assesses your condition first and determines whether you are a candidate.
What is Aspen Class IV laser therapy?
It is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses high-intensity light to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and speed the body's natural healing process. It works by stimulating a photochemical reaction in your cells, boosting circulation and cellular energy production. Most patients feel only a gentle, soothing warmth during treatment. The office uses it for arthritis, back and neck pain, sports injuries, plantar fasciitis, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
I was in a car accident but I do not feel any pain. Should I still be examined?
The office says yes. Even without neck or back pain you may still be injured, and it can take weeks before an injury shows up as pain. Left unexamined, the injury may get worse. A collision at just 5 mph can result in a permanent injury, so the office recommends getting examined. For auto accident calls, the staff says it is available to take your call 24 hours a day and will work you into the schedule right away.
What happens on my first visit?
The office has a new patient center on its website where you can complete the paperwork for your visit ahead of time from home. Care is then organized into three phases the office calls relief care, corrective care, and wellness care. After an examination, the team works with you to develop a treatment plan built around your specific needs.
