It also does not take items that are not permitted at the landfill, including asbestos, cooking oil, medication, X-rays, business-generated hazardous waste, radioactive waste such as smoke alarms and detectors, ammunition, explosives, fireworks and flares, and sharps or needles. Also excluded are fire extinguishers, helium party balloon tanks, automotive fluids, kerosene, lamp oil, lighter fluid, oil-based paints and stains, paint thinners and solvents, and pool and spa chemicals.
