Fix It People
Fix It People is a Chicago handyman service that has worked across the city's neighborhoods since 2012, handling everything from short punch lists to tricky multi-trade home repairs. The team covers handyman work, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, carpentry, painting and drywall, and tile installation, so there is no need to call five different companies to finish one project. Jobs are priced as a flat rate rather than by the hour and quotes are itemized, so the cost is clear before work starts and each quote stays valid for 30 days. Workmanship is guaranteed, with visible defects reportable within 30 days of completion and concealed workmanship defects within 6 months, while materials carry their own manufacturer warranty. Free estimates are available, including a virtual option, and clients can request work, review and approve quotes, and pay invoices through the online client hub.

FAQs
Do you offer emergency service?
No. Fix It People does not currently offer emergency service. Hours are 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. For non-emergency plumbing, the team typically gets to you within 2 to 4 business days of your quote being approved.
What kind of work do you handle?
Handyman work, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, carpentry, painting and drywall, and tile installation. Technicians work across multiple trades, so a faucet repair and a light fixture fix can usually happen in the same appointment.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. Fix It People provides a workmanship guarantee on defects caused by its own labor and installation. Visible or cosmetic defects must be reported within 30 days of project completion, and concealed workmanship defects within 6 months. Materials, products and components are not covered by the guarantee and may be subject to the manufacturer's own warranty.
Are your plumbers and electricians licensed?
Fix It People does not currently have licensed plumbers or electricians on staff and does not take on work that requires those licenses under Chicago Code. The business itself is fully licensed and insured. Building management or HOA rules are sometimes stricter than city code, so it is worth checking whether that applies to you.
How is the work priced?
Work is priced as a flat rate rather than by the hour, so the quoted price is the price for the service as described. Materials are estimated separately and charged based on what is actually purchased, with a 35% markup applied to materials purchased by Fix It People.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit cards, debit cards, ACH bank transfers, and checks. Venmo, Zelle, and cash are not accepted. Consumer financing is also available through Wisetack.
How long is a quote valid?
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the issue date. After that, material costs and availability may have shifted enough that the numbers need to be revisited before the work proceeds.
What areas do you serve?
Fix It People serves Chicago neighborhoods including Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Logan Square, Wicker Park, West Town, River North, the Loop, South Loop, Uptown, Edgewater, and Rogers Park.
