Penguin Pest Control is a family owned and locally owned pest control company headquartered in Grand Junction, Colorado. The company is not corporately owned and is not a franchise. It was started in Grand Junction by Spencer Christensen, who launched the business as SNAP Pest Solutions in 2012 and later renamed it Penguin Pest Control, then purchased a large portion of Mountain Pest Control and brought several of its technicians onto the Penguin team. Penguin treats residential and commercial properties for insects, arachnids, mice, rodents, termites, bed bugs, bats and birds, and also serves landlords and multi-unit property managers. Services include general pest control, commercial pest control, termite control with liquid treatments or monitoring stations, termite inspections, liquid bed bug treatments, vertebrate control through exclusion work, mosquito spray treatments, and winter preventative treatments. Technicians are trained through a written manual and are licensed, and the company applies products according to their label and the guidelines set by the State Department of Agriculture and the federal EPA, using the least amount of product needed to control the target pest.

How long has Penguin Pest Control been in business?
Spencer Christensen started the Colorado company as SNAP Pest Solutions in 2012 and later changed the name to Penguin Pest Control. He then purchased a large portion of a company called Mountain Pest Control, which had been in business for almost 30 years, and several former Mountain technicians became Penguin technicians.
Are the treatments safe for pets and people?
Penguin says it is an extremely safety conscious company. As a matter of policy the team uses the least amount of product needed to gain effective control of the target pests, uses the safest products available, and applies them in accordance with their label and the safety guidelines set by the State Department of Agriculture and the federal EPA. After an application, your technician will communicate any concerns or safety precautions with you.
What kinds of pests do you treat?
Penguin covers insect and arachnid pests including ants, spiders, crickets, earwigs, box elder bugs, elm seed bugs, roaches, scorpions, silverfish, ticks and wasps, plus mice and rats, subterranean and drywood termites, bed bugs, mosquitos, and vertebrate pests such as birds, bats, snakes, raccoons, skunks and squirrels.

How do you treat termites?
Penguin uses two kinds of termite treatment. Liquid treatments involve treating the soil all the way around the house and work quickly. Monitoring stations are a more economical option, though a station may take 6 to 12 months to entirely eradicate an existing colony, so stations are better suited to preventative treatment. Penguin also provides termite inspections.
What does a winter pest control treatment involve?
In winter the team focuses on exclusion, mechanical controls and more in-depth interior treatments. That includes wall void treatments applied behind electrical plate covers, more thorough treatment of crawl spaces and attics with a liquid or dust formulation, and a longer inspection to catch early problems such as a hole in the house or breaches in the caulking.
