We are Choice City Locksmith, a locksmith service based in Fort Collins, Colorado. We handle the whole range of lock and key work, from car keys cut and programmed on site, fob and transponder programming, and ignition repair, to house and car lockouts, rekeying, cylinder changes, deadbolt and smart entry installation, and key duplication. On the commercial side we fit access control systems, panic bars, master key systems, high-security cylinders, and handle storefront and office lockouts. We also open safes and swap mailbox locks. Most of what we do is mobile, so we bring the cutting and programming equipment to wherever your car or property is standing rather than asking you to tow or travel. We work across Fort Collins and the surrounding area, including Timnath, Wellington, Windsor, Loveland, Severance, Berthoud, and Greeley, covering both Larimer and Weld counties. What areas do you serve?
We are based in Fort Collins and also cover Timnath, Wellington, Windsor, Loveland, Severance, Berthoud, and Greeley, across Larimer and Weld counties. In Fort Collins itself we can get to you quickly, and for the outer towns we quote an honest drive time rather than an optimistic figure.
Can you get in without damaging my lock?
Almost always on a standard residential lock. Non-destructive entry is what we aim for, and the lock keeps working so there is nothing to replace. The exceptions are a high-security cylinder built to resist it or one already damaged by someone else, and if a lock must come out you hear that price first, never after.
What does pricing look like?
Most services carry a published price range, for example car lockouts at $55 to $165, rekeying at $25 to $45 per cylinder, and key duplication at $5 to $25. Master key systems are quoted per opening. Whatever the job, the number we give you on the phone is the number on the invoice.
Do I have to tow my car to a dealer?
Almost never. We bring the cutting and programming equipment to wherever the car is standing, so the work happens on your driveway. The exception is a few newer models where the maker releases lock data only to franchised dealers, and we will tell you that on the phone rather than after driving out.
We just moved in. Should we rekey or replace?
Rekey, in almost every case. If the lock works there is no reason to buy new, and changing the pins retires every key the last owner handed out for a fraction of the cost. We only suggest replacing when a lock is worn out, is the wrong grade for the door, or you want a keypad instead.
My key turns but the engine will not start. Why?
That is usually a programming fault rather than a cutting one. A key that works the door and ignition locks but leaves the engine dead typically had its blade cut without the chip being paired, the most common reason a cheap online key fails. Programming is a separate step, and the door lock is never touched.
Do you handle emergencies?
Yes. Emergency call-outs run around the clock, and an honest price is agreed on the phone before the van leaves. Snow stretches every run and fills the diary quickly, so we quote realistic timing rather than a figure we cannot keep.
