Do I need to make an appointment?
No. Service works on a walk-in, first-come first-served basis, so you can visit the shop anytime during regular business hours. If your vehicle is not safe to drive, contact the shop to arrange a tow-in instead.
What warranty do you offer?
All work performed is covered by a warranty spanning 2 years or 50,000 miles. Individual parts may carry their own terms, and each invoice or estimate lists the specific coverage. Normal wear items such as fluids, brake pads and rotors, tires, and batteries are generally not covered unless they are defective, and warranty work must be performed at the shop.
What kind of parts do you use?
Only Original Equipment Manufacturer and Original Equipment Supplier parts, obtained from dealers, the dealer network, or reputable professional parts suppliers. Customer supplied parts are not installed except in special cases, such as parts that are out of production or otherwise unavailable.
Do you provide estimates?
Yes. For an accurate estimate on repairs and diagnostics the vehicle needs to be inspected in person, since quoting over the phone is difficult. After the inspection the shop contacts you for approval before any work begins.
How much should an oil change cost?
Conventional oil changes typically fall within the $40 to $75 range, while synthetic oil changes start at around $63. The final cost depends on factors such as engine oil capacity and the oil grade the manufacturer specifies.
Do you replace or rebuild engines and transmissions?
Yes, but only on vehicles diagnosed at the shop first. Chicago Auto Repair does not take on engine or transmission replacements without an inspection conducted on site.
Do you do performance or modification work?
Yes. The shop offers customization work including vehicle lifting, lowering, and brake upgrades such as carbon ceramic brake installation. Software tuning is available for select brands including Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Land Rover, McLaren, and Mercedes.
What are your hours?
The shop is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is closed Saturday and Sunday.
