Belmar Dentistry is a woman and veteran owned dental practice on Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood, Colorado, formerly known as Borris Dental. Owner Dr. Kelly Thompson, who served in the Army as a general dentist before moving into private practice, took over the practice in 2022 and works alongside Dr. Carlos Salas, Dr. Nagel, hygienists Sarah B. and Sarah H., and the rest of the Belmar team. The practice describes its care as comprehensive, compassionate and patient-centered, and covers preventative visits such as cleanings, exams and x-rays, general and restorative work including fillings, crowns, bridges and dentures, cosmetic treatment such as whitening and veneers, periodontal deep cleanings, clear aligner orthodontics, and sedation options for patients with dental anxiety. Oral surgery, implants and root canals are performed at the Lakewood office rather than referred out, and the team also handles emergency dentistry. Belmar Dentistry is accepting new patients, participates with a variety of PPO dental insurance plans, offers CareCredit and in house financing, and runs its own dental savings plan for patients without insurance.

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. Belmar Dentistry states that it is accepting new patients. You can request an appointment through the website or call (303) 936-3700.
Do you take my dental insurance?
Belmar Dentistry is a participating provider for a variety of PPO dental insurance plans, and the office submits claims to your insurance company on your behalf. Contact the office to learn about its status with your specific plan. The practice notes that it does not accept Medicare or Medicaid at this time.
What if I do not have dental insurance?
The practice offers its own Belmar Dentistry savings plan, an in-house program with discounts on care such as fillings, deep cleanings and oral surgeries for an annual fee. It is $495 per year for a single plan and $750 per year for a family plan covering two people, plus $320 for each additional member. The savings plan is not dental insurance and cannot be used in conjunction with dental insurance.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. The office lists CareCredit and in house financing plans as financing options, and payments can also be made online through the Make a Payment page.
Do you handle dental emergencies?
Yes. Belmar Dentistry offers emergency dental care. The practice prefers to treat patients during the week when the whole team is present, and its doctors can be reached after hours to determine whether your situation needs immediate attention or can be managed until the next business day.
What happens at a first visit?
New patient paperwork is sent by text or email before the appointment. A team member reviews your dental history, medical history and any concerns, x-rays are taken if recent ones are not available from a previous office, and the dentist completes an exam including an oral cancer screening and a gum evaluation. The initial visit takes about an hour and a half, and a cleaning may not happen that day because the doctor first determines which type of cleaning suits your oral health.
Who are the dentists at Belmar Dentistry?
Owner Dr. Kelly Thompson, a former Army general dentist and graduate of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, leads the practice alongside Dr. Carlos Salas, who has over a decade of experience in emergency dentistry and performs root canals, oral surgery and implants in the office, and Dr. Nagel, a second-generation dentist who trained at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Denver Health Medical Center.
Is anyone in the practice able to help in another language?
