Paratex Pest Prevention has roots in Seattle dating back to 1908, when Ruddy Fumigation in Pioneer Square kept rats off the Seattle waterfront and docks. Ruddy Fumigation Co. was combined with Paramount Pest Control in 1962 to create what has been Paratex ever since, and today it is still a family-run business operated by the next generation, Jen Osborn and Ed Kloth, both third-generation Seattle natives. The company provides general pest prevention for commercial and residential customers looking to control and prevent rodents and pest insects, and also handles insects and spiders including ants, wasps and bees, bed bugs, roaches and spiders, plus wood destroying organisms such as ants, beetles and termites. Paratex runs its own fumigation vault in SODO and performs on-site fumigation of structures, containers and commodities, provides exclusion services for bird control and pest entry barriers, specializes in keeping food manufacturing and distribution facilities compliant with government regulations, and provides licensed rodent abatement certification for any size demolition construction project. Customers range from hospitals to restaurants, apartment buildings to single-family homes, wool rugs to large yachts.
