Goodsmith Home Care & Repair
Goodsmith Home Care & Repair is a Houston handyman and home repair company established in 2019, built around an app that lets homeowners submit, schedule and pay for every service request in one place. The team handles handyman work such as TV mounting, furniture assembly, caulking and grout, tile repair, weather stripping and hardware installation, along with painting, carpentry, exterior cleaning, appliance repair and routine home maintenance like HVAC filter and light bulb replacements. A licensed electrician covers outlets, switches, breakers, generator switches, fixtures, EV chargers and smart devices, and a licensed plumber covers fixture installs, water heaters, leak detection, drain clearing, toilet repairs, disposals, gas lanterns and filtration systems, with license numbers TMPL 37942 and TECL 38184 listed on the company site. Every member of the team is based in Houston, all Goodsmith techs clear background and drug screenings and are graduates of the in-house training program Goodsmith University, and pricing is upfront with services estimated and approved before work begins, with only rare exceptions.

FAQs
What areas does Goodsmith service?
Goodsmith currently serves Houston and publishes a service map on its site. If your zip code is not on the map yet, the company says it is growing quickly and will let you know when it launches in your neighborhood.
How much do Goodsmith services cost?
Pricing is upfront. Services are estimated and approved before work begins, with only rare exceptions, so you can review the estimate in the app before scheduling.
How does it work?
You create a free account with basic details about you and your home, then download the app and submit a service request. Ivy, the company's AI agent, asks preliminary questions about the request, the team sends an estimate and a first availability, and once you approve, a technician arrives at the scheduled time. You receive an invoice afterward and pay it in the app.
Who comes to my house?
Goodsmith states that 80 percent of requests are completed by a full-time, professionally trained Goodsmith technician who arrives in a Goodsmith van prepped for the job, and the remaining 20 percent are serviced by carefully vetted, hand-selected partners. All Goodsmith techs clear background and drug screenings and are graduates of Goodsmith University.
How long does a request take to complete?
Mechanical services such as plumbing, electrical work, HVAC or appliance repairs are typically completed within 48 hours. Discretionary services like painting, handyman work, carpentry or cleaning usually complete within 10 business days of submission. Urgent requests can be flagged with the Emergency toggle, and emergency service requires Goodsmith+ or a Legacy plan.
Does someone have to be home for the appointment?
Yes, particularly for work inside the home, since your presence helps make sure things are done correctly. That is not necessarily the case for outside jobs like window cleaning or a gate repair, and the team is happy to let itself in pending a key release waiver.
Are there cancellation or rescheduling fees?
Any appointment canceled less than 24 hours before the service start time incurs a $50.00 flat fee, and a confirmed appointment where the technician arrives and no one is present incurs a $100.00 flat fee. Goodsmith also reserves the right to charge an additional $50 per hour of canceled service.
What is the Goodsmith membership?
Goodsmith offers a free basic account, and you can upgrade in the app for $399 per year to get two maintenance visits per year, priority scheduling and member specials.
