What's a French drain
A French drain is often added to property where the natural slope isn’t enough to move excess storm water off the property. French drains are usually buried under the lawn.
How much experience do you have?
Our founder, David Felker, has been serving clients throughout the DFW area since 1979. He has substantial experience in landscape design, installation and maintenance. David’s expertise is critical in this area because we have unique challenges of drought conditions and high temps.
What is flagstone, and why do people use it for patios?
Flagstone represents flat rocks that are found in nature, and assembled into patios. We design and install custom flagstone patios and pathways.
Do you handle residential and commercial clients?
We have multiple, experienced crews that are part of Ideal Landscape Services. Our founder, David Felker, gives every project his hands-on attention, backed by a crew that has been with us for 10 to 15 years. We serve both residential and commercial clients, from intimate residential gardens to large commercial campuses.

What is low maintenance landscaping?
Quite simply, it’s landscaping that doesn’t require a big investment of time or money to maintain. Such designs utilize various hardscapes and native plants to create a great look, but not require as much watering or personal attention.
How do you decide what to incorporate in a landscape design?
We base each design on your plant, tree and decoration preferences, the maintenance level you want, your soil, terrain and sunlight, your budget, and irrigation and xeriscape opportunities. We have been planning and installing landscapes across the DFW Metroplex for over 45 years.
Do you do landscape design?
Well, of course! Designing projects is really our favorite thing to do because it gets our creative juices flowing. We balance our clients must haves, nice-to-haves, reality and budget and come up with great solutions that people will love for years to come.
What is Xeriscaping?
Xeriscaping is a “big word” that essentially refers to a style of landscaping that requires little to no irrigation. This is obviously an important request of many North Texas homeowners as we often suffer through brutal heat for many weeks during the summer.
Do you install irrigation systems?
Yes we do! We offer irrigation services and plan irrigation into our landscape designs, and our maintenance service includes irrigation inspection and adjustment. This is a critical component of any landscaping design.
Do Water Features Attract Mosquitos?
Standing water can attract mosquitos, so we offer mosquito-prevention designs for our water features. If you have a bird bath in your backyard, and it just holds water, then that would likely attract mosquitos because it’s stagnant water, it’s not moving.
