The Home Hero
The Home Hero is a licensed and insured handyman service that has been saving the day for Philadelphia homeowners since late 2009, when founder Pete Rose turned a passion for DIY and power tools into a full-time business. The company specializes in the small repair jobs that general contractors will not even call homeowners back about, and it has worked with more than 10,000 customers while completing more than 1000 jobs each year. Work spans handyman packages, baby proofing, lighting, custom finish carpentry, drywall and painting, home organization, bathroom remodeling, home electronics installation, and licensed plumbing through partner Mr. Tubs. Free virtual estimates come back in 48 hours or less from photos you take yourself, appointments are booked with no time windows to wait through, and every job comes with copies of all receipts and detailed invoices. The Home Hero has won Best of Philly twice, made the Philadelphia 100 three years running, and received the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Excellence Award for Customer Service.

FAQs
How do I get an estimate?
Fill out the virtual estimator form with as much detail about the job as possible and upload a photo so the team can understand the project. The Home Hero returns a free virtual estimate in 48 hours or less. If you have a multi-day job that needs an in person estimate, the team will come to your home for a free Fly-By Consultation.
What do the handyman packages cost?
The Half-Day Handyman Package is $350 plus supplies and covers a maximum of 3.5 hours. The Full-Day Handyman Package is $500 plus supplies and covers a maximum of 7 hours. There are no credits for time not used, and your list needs to be submitted in advance in order of priority.
What kinds of jobs can you handle?
The Home Hero focuses on small projects that run from a half day up to about one week, the jobs that are too small for most contractors. Typical requests include hanging a shelf, replacing a switch, adjusting a door, hanging a TV, touching up paint, swapping a light bulb, and patching a hole.
Are there jobs you do not take on?
Yes. The Home Hero does not do roofing, windows or exterior doors, masonry, mechanical work such as licensed HVAC and licensed electrical, water entry issues, permit work, floor refinishing or carpeting, work at heights over 8 feet, or large scale renovations. If they cannot help, they will refer you to someone who can.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. The Home Hero is licensed and insured, and the technicians who do the work are trained and dedicated, not low-bid sub-contractors.
Do you offer plumbing work?
Yes. The Home Hero offers licensed plumbing work through its partner Mr. Tubs, with the same quality and customer service the company brings to its own jobs.
Do you do baby proofing?
Yes, and it is one of the company's specialties. The Home Hero won Best of Philly for Best Baby Proofer in 2015. Solutions include heavy duty baby gates, Plexiglas and Lexan for railings and balconies, wire management, electronics guards, furniture safety anchoring, and window safety.
How can I pay for the work?
The Home Hero accepts major credit cards and lets you pay through a secure online form. You also receive copies of all receipts and detailed invoices for every job.
