Academy Chiropractic Center
Academy Chiropractic Center has been providing quality chiropractic health care in Center City Philadelphia since 1999. From its inception the practice has endeavored not only to alleviate patients' pain, but to help them become active participants in their own health. The office combines a gentle, holistic approach to chiropractic care with patient education and therapeutic modalities to provide relief from an array of musculoskeletal complaints. The practice describes itself as unlike most other medical or chiropractic offices, striving to replicate the personalized experience of the old time corner practice: staff take the time to get to know you and your goals, not just your musculoskeletal complaints, and your care is based on your needs and lifestyle. Chiropractic care here means joint mobilization using a wide range of techniques, with specific spinal adjustments intended to restore normal motion to restricted joints in the spine and extremities, which helps decrease joint pain, increase balance and coordination and may slow the process of joint degeneration. The office also provides massage and muscular therapy tailored to each patient's condition and injury, and designs individual exercise and stretching programs patients can perform at home to increase the effectiveness of in-office care. With over twenty years of experience working with musicians, office workers, laborers and performance groups, the staff treat and prevent the muscular and joint injuries unique to performing arts professions. Chiropractic care is delivered by Dr. Ryan Alcorn, who joined the practice in 2013 after a residency in Rochester, New York, and who has sought additional training in the extremity injuries of musicians. Massage therapy is provided by Holly LMT, whose 27 years of experience have led her to a unique approach combining deep Swedish style and trigger point therapy with stretching techniques, and by Michael B. LMT, who integrates deep tissue, myofascial and stretching work. The office accepts many major insurance plans, accepts all major credit cards and offers payment installments, and is currently accepting new patients.
