How much does a move in NYC cost?
Most moves are charged at a fixed rate based on the list of items and details you provide, and hourly rates are available for special circumstances or on request. Published average ranges for a move within Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan run from $400 to $1,100 for a studio, $600 to $1,800 for a one bedroom, and $900 to $2,600 for a two bedroom.
Will the quote change on moving day?
As long as the items entered on the moving quote form and the other details, such as the number of flights of stairs at each end and the locations, do not change, the rate remains fixed as quoted including all taxes. If your inventory changes, email the additions and removals and you will receive an updated quote.
Are tolls included in the rate?
Tolls are not included. Metropolis Moving will specify whether your route will have tolls and roughly how much they will be.
How many movers will you send?
For most moves the company sends two strong and experienced movers. For particularly large or complicated moves a third mover comes along.
Do you provide moving blankets and materials?
Yes. Pro grade moving blankets, tape, shrink wrap, basic tools for furniture disassembly and assembly, and furniture dollies are supplied free of charge.
Are you insured, and can you provide a COI?
Yes. The moving teams are fully insured, the company is accredited in the State of New York, and a certificate of insurance can be supplied on request. The standard liability policy covers items damaged or lost at 60 cents per pound, per article, at no additional charge.
Do you offer storage?
Metropolis Moving does not have its own storage facility, but the team is happy to move you into or out of a storage facility you have rented.
Can you help with a last minute move or just loading a truck?
Yes. The team handles last minute moves, moves within the same building, and loading or unloading a truck you have rented yourself.
