FAQs
Do you offer emergency garage door repair?
Yes. Doors stuck open, doors blocking a vehicle, and commercial doors halting operations get priority scheduling. Call and describe what happened and we will tell you whether it is safe to touch the door before we arrive.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. L&L is licensed, bonded and insured, and OSHA certified. We hold NY Contractor's License #2053509-DCA and Nassau County Consumer Affairs Number 184881.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Free estimates are offered on garage door work. You get clear pricing before the job begins, with no hidden fees and no surprise charges.
Can you repair just one damaged panel?
Often, yes. If the door model is still in production and the rest of the sections are sound, replacing a single panel costs far less than a full door. As an authorized Clopay dealer we can match sections across most current collections. Older or discontinued doors may need full replacement.
How do I know if my garage door spring is broken?
Usually you hear a loud bang from the garage. After that, look for a visible gap in the coil above the door, a door that will not open or only rises a few inches, an opener that strains or reverses immediately, a door that feels extremely heavy by hand, a crooked door, or cables hanging loose off the drums. Do not keep running the opener.
How often should a garage door be serviced?
Once a year for a typical household, or every six months if the door is your main entrance and cycles several times a day, or if it is a commercial door on a busy dock. Annual service catches worn rollers, loose hardware and fatigued springs while they are still cheap fixes.
Do you work on commercial doors?
Yes. We service rolling steel, sectional overhead, high cycle roll up doors, security grilles and dock equipment for warehouses, garages, auto shops, storage facilities and building management. Scheduled preventive maintenance contracts are available for high cycle doors.
Which areas do you service?
All five NYC boroughs plus Nassau and Suffolk County. The shop is based in Astoria, Queens.
