Hercules Stump Grinding is a local, family owned and operated stump grinding company based in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. The crew does not take on tree work; tree stumps are the sole specialty. Using Rayco RG70X, RG80 and RG74T-R grinders, they reduce stumps to wood chips and grind 8 to 12 inches below grade, with deeper grinding available on request for replanting. Work covers homeowners, developers, golf courses, landscape architects, arborists and commercial properties, including municipal and HOA projects. Plywood barricades protect the surrounding property and wood chips are raked into neat piles before the crew leaves.

FAQs
How deep do you grind stumps?
All stumps are ground 8 to 12 inches below grade. If you plan to replant in the same spot, deep grinding can be performed upon request.
Do you also cut down or trim trees?
No. Hercules does not get involved with tree work. Tree stumps are the specialty, which is why stump jobs do not sit behind higher priority tree service work.
Will the equipment damage my lawn?
The Rayco RG70X and RG80 are all wheel drive rubber tire machines that are gentle on landscapes, including pristine yards and golf courses. A tracked RG74T-R is used for heavy jobs, construction sites and extreme terrain.
Do you clean up after the job?
Yes. Wood chips and debris are raked into neat piles where the stumps used to be, and plywood protective barricades are used around the work area to protect your property.
Do you take on commercial and municipal work?
Yes. Hercules works with contractors, office complexes, golf courses, developers and municipal and HOA clients, as well as homeowners, landscape architects and arborists.
