Wellness in Motion Boston is a locally owned multidisciplinary clinic in downtown Boston with one focus: helping patients return to the activities that help them live a full and healthy life. Originally founded by Dr. Ian Nurse as a chiropractic clinic, the practice has expanded around chiropractic care into physical therapy, pelvic floor therapy, podiatry, sports massage, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, shockwave therapy, personal training and NormaTec recovery. The chiropractic side leans on soft-tissue work as much as adjustment: Active Release Techniques, Graston Technique, dry needling, cupping, kinesiotaping, perinatal chiropractic care, gait analysis and retraining, bike fitting and custom orthotics. The clinic is a preferred provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Cigna, Tufts, Aetna and Mass General Brigham, publishes its out-of-pocket rates, and sits at 27 School Street between the Park Street, Government Center, State Street and Downtown Crossing T stops.

Why choose us?

Multidisciplinary care in one clinic

WIMB describes itself as a one-stop-shop for wellness, so chiropractic, physical therapy, pelvic floor therapy, podiatry, massage, acupuncture and nutrition counseling sit under one roof instead of across separate referrals.

Soft tissue first, not adjustment only

The clinic's view is that muscles and soft tissues move bones, so a treatment plan that addresses soft tissue compromise alongside spinal alignment is what fixes problems, rather than manipulation on its own.

Active Release and Graston certified

Dr. Ian Nurse is a fully certified Active Release Techniques provider for the spine and the lower and upper extremity, and a certified Graston Technique provider, and the practice is built around those soft-tissue methods.

Preferred provider for six major insurers

Wellness in Motion Boston is a preferred provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Cigna, Tufts, Aetna and Mass General Brigham, with Cigna and Tufts chiropractic coverage limited to specific practitioners.

Published out-of-pocket rates

If your plan is not accepted, the rates are posted up front: chiropractic is $155 for the initial visit and $75 for a 15-minute follow-up, and the clinic provides itemized receipts you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement.

Downtown location between four T stops

The clinic is at 27 School Street, Suite 300, between the Park Street, Government Center, State Street and Downtown Crossing stops, with the Pi Alley Garage at 275 Washington Street noted as the closest and most reasonably priced parking.

FAQs

What insurance do you accept?
Wellness in Motion Boston is a preferred provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Cigna, Tufts, Aetna and Mass General Brigham. For chiropractic, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Aetna and Mass General Brigham are covered by all practitioners, ASH/Cigna by Dr. Paula and Dr. Carlucci, and Tufts commercial plans by Dr. Paula. If your insurer is not accepted, the clinic provides itemized receipts you can submit for reimbursement.
What happens at my first appointment?
The initial appointment is the first step toward getting to the root of the problem. It consists of a history of the injury and an examination using strength, functional and orthopedic testing. The practitioner then gives an initial diagnosis, treats you, and includes education aimed at preventing future injuries.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring your completed new patient paperwork, gym clothes such as a tank top or t-shirt and shorts, and any prior imaging or lab results you have.
What does chiropractic cost without insurance?
Out-of-pocket chiropractic rates are $155 for the initial visit, $75 for a 15-minute follow-up and $105 for a 30-minute follow-up. There is an additional $30 charge for 30-minute appointments with Cigna, Tufts, Aetna or Harvard Pilgrim.
How do I book an appointment?
Chiropractic can be booked through the clinic's online scheduling. Physical therapy at the downtown office is scheduled by phone at 857-305-3392. Podiatry, shockwave and massage can be booked online or by phone, and acupuncture is scheduled by phone only.
What is your cancellation policy?
Twenty-four hours notice is required for all services. For chiropractic, physical therapy and podiatry there is a $60 late cancellation fee after one exemption, and $100 for a new patient's second offense. Massage, FST and acupuncture late cancellations are charged the full cash rate.
Do you see Medicare patients?
The clinic offers manual therapies to Medicare patients at out-of-pocket rates, but cannot perform chiropractic adjustments for Medicare patients. Physical therapy, acupuncture and podiatry are not available to Medicare patients.
Where can I park?
The Pi Alley Garage at 275 Washington Street is noted as the closest and most reasonably priced option. The clinic is also between four T stops in downtown Boston: Park Street, Government Center, State Street and Downtown Crossing.
