FAQs

Are your arborists certified?
Yes. All of our services are led or performed by ISA Certified Arborists. Founder Josh Reuterskiold has been an ISA Certified Arborist since 2014 (SO: 7033A) and became a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor in 2016.
Can I remove any tree within the City of Atlanta?
Not without a permit in many cases. Trees measuring six inches or greater in diameter breast height are protected under Section 158 of Atlanta's tree ordinance and require a permit before injuring, destroying, or removing them. We can handle the permit application submittal for you.
What if I live outside the city limits? Does a tree ordinance still apply?
Yes. Each municipality has its own tree ordinance, and properties outside formal city limits fall under their county's ordinance. Our FAQ page links the ordinances for Fulton County, DeKalb County, and a number of metro Atlanta municipalities.
What tree services do you offer?
We provide hazard tree removals, target pruning, weight reduction, deadwood pruning, stump removal and grinding, storm damage cleanup, permit application submittals, plant health care, tree inspections, arborist prescriptions, tree protection plans, and tree appraisals.
What is included in a tree inspection?
We offer three levels. Level one is a visual walkaround inspection of the crown, trunk, and roots. Level two adds root excavation and inspection plus heartwood sounding. Level three is an advanced inspection that can include tree core sampling, soil sampling, resistograph modeling, root collar excavations, and drone inspections.
What is an arborist prescription?
It is a tree health care plan used to protect trees during construction. A prescription may be required when 20 to 32 percent of a tree's critical root zone will be impacted, and it helps meet local tree ordinance requirements.
Do you follow recognized pruning standards?
Yes. Atlanta Arborist Services, LLC abides by the ANSI A300 tree pruning standards recommended by the International Society of Arboriculture.
How do I request a consultation?
