BMC Family Chiropractic is a family-owned chiropractic office in central Westminster, Colorado, located at 9101 Harlan St, Suite 210, near Costco. The practice has been family owned since 2013 and describes its goal and passion as helping patients live an exceptional life by elevating their health through chiropractic care. The BMC in the name comes from the Hovendon family: Bryce, Marissa and Dr. Chris. Care is provided by Dr. Chris Hovendon, DC, who graduated magna cum laude and fourth in his class from Parker College of Chiropractic, later renamed Parker University. He is board certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, holds NBCE physiotherapy certification, is Webster Technique certified through the ICPA, and carries Level 1 certifications in Functional Dry Needling, Craniosacral and Myofascial work, Graston and Activator. Marissa Hovendon, listed as the office Chaos Coordinator, previously managed a local Westminster chiropractic office. The practice states its goals are simple: to know you, to know what is bringing you into the office, and to know how it can help you reach your goals. It helps patients with pain reduction, pregnancy, children, automobile accidents, workers compensation, athletes and wellness care. Services include chiropractic adjustments using multiple technique options such as Diversified, Specific Prone, Gonstead and Activator, along with extremities adjustments, Cranio-Sacral work, Functional Dry Needling, on-site x-rays and an on-site intersegmental traction table. First visits include a detailed consultation and exam, same-day x-rays for patients who are not pregnant or young children, and a relief treatment when appropriate. The second visit is a Report of Findings where Dr. Chris reviews a treatment plan built specifically for that patient. The office states all plans are recommended and are never under contract, and it lists no contracts and affordable treatment plans among the things that make it different. No Contract Memberships are offered to patients who have completed their treatment plan and vary in visits and price. BMC does not accept health insurance, but provides a superbill patients can submit to their insurance company for potential reimbursement, accepts HSA and FSA payments, and publishes a full price list on its website. It accepts Medicare coverage but is unable to bill Medicare Advantage plans. Military discounts are offered. Scheduling is available online through the website or through the practice app, and the office also takes calls and texts at (303) 284-7724. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9AM to 1PM and 3PM to 6PM. The site lists Westminster, Arvada, Thornton, Broomfield, Northglenn, Sherrelwood and Federal Heights among the communities it serves.

FAQs

Do you accept insurance?
BMC no longer accepts health insurance. The office is happy to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, and it accepts HSA and FSA forms of payment. It does accept Medicare coverage, but states it is unable to bill Medicare Advantage plans because those are HMO plans it is not in-network with. The site also notes that in the state of Colorado, Medicaid does not cover chiropractic care.
What does treatment cost?
The office publishes a current price list on its website. It lists a New Patient Exam with x-rays at $125, a New Patient Exam Child at $50, an Adjustment at $55, an Adjustment Child at $30, an Adjustment Student for ages 18 to 25 at $35, an Adjustment Military at $25, Functional Dry Needling at $50, and an Adjustment plus Functional Dry Needling at $90. The office states costs depend on the type of visit and your individualized treatment plan, and that payment options and insurance benefits are always reviewed during your second visit.
What happens at my first visit?
After reviewing your required new patient paperwork, Dr. Chris sits down with you for a detailed consultation and exam, listening to your concerns while gathering a detailed history. X-rays are taken and reviewed the same day, with pregnant women and children excluded. If appropriate and safe, Dr. Chris will then provide a relief treatment. Before you leave, he goes over what to expect next and your second visit is scheduled.
Do you require x-rays?
Unless you are pregnant or a young child, the office does require x-rays and takes them on site. It states a picture of your spine gives the doctor the opportunity to evaluate the spine prior to your first adjustment.
How many sessions will I need?
The office states your body and your needs are different from anyone else's, so Dr. Chris creates a customized treatment plan specifically designed for you. It also states that all plans are recommended and are never under contract. For patients who have completed a treatment plan, No Contract Memberships are offered and vary in visits and price.
Does an adjustment hurt?
The office states most adjustments do not hurt at all and in most instances provide relief. From time to time, areas of soreness or a particular point of contact could cause a short period of discomfort.
How do I book an appointment?
The practice offers flexible scheduling either on its website or through its app. You can also call or text the office at (303) 284-7724, or use the contact form on the website.
What are your office hours?
The office is open Monday through Thursday, 9AM to 1PM and 3PM to 6PM, and is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
