FAQs
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Dominant Moving Company operates under CA moving license CAL-T 0191165, and its CPUC license is MTR-0191165. The company carries workers compensation, cargo, and auto liability policies plus a 1 million general liability policy, and can have its insurance agent issue a certificate of liability and workers compensation insurance if your building or HOA requires one.
Do you charge for an estimate?
No. Onsite estimates are offered free of charge, though an estimator is not sent to every client. An onsite estimate is done if your home is over 2,500 square feet and/or you have a lot of unusual items to move. You can also call for a free quote or request one online.
How is a local move billed?
The cost of a local move is based on the amount of time it takes to relocate your belongings plus the drive time between your old and new residence. Packing is billed at the hourly rate plus any materials used. Because local moves are charged by the hour, there is no separate charge for stairs or elevators.
How is a long distance move billed?
The cost of a long distance move depends on the number of items, the weight of the items, and the distance you are moving. Accessorial charges such as stairs, elevators, and long carrying distances are included in the estimated price for a long distance move.
Do you work weekends?
The company moves 7 days a week, though it may be closed on some holidays. Check with a sales representative when booking your date.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cashier's checks, and cash are accepted. A discount is given for cash payments. Personal and business checks are not accepted.
Can you help with packing?
Yes. Packing service can be scheduled through the office, and depending on how much packing is needed an additional day may be required. Wardrobe boxes are provided for use on moving day free of charge as long as they are returned by the end of the move.
What do you not move?
Vehicle transportation is not provided, and movers cannot give you a ride in the truck because the company holds a household goods carrier license rather than a passenger carrier license. Pianos are moved subject to weight and type limits, so call the office to confirm your item.
